It is a beltless, rebated rim cartridge created by necking down the .300 Remington Ultra Magnum case to 7mm (.284 caliber) with no other changes. The 7mm Remington Ultra Magnum is currently the largest commercially available cartridge in 7mm (.284 caliber).
