The Mongomery County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) is a nationally accredited law enforcement agency and acts as the enforcment arm of the Montgomery County courts. All deputy sheriffs are fully certified law enforcement officials with full authority of arrest.[1]
Duties
The duties of the MCSO are as follows[2]:
- Court Security
- Criminal Warrant Service
- Criminal and Civil court order service
- Child Support Enforcement
- Domestic Violence intervention
- Other duties as assigned by authoriy
Organization
Nationally accredited in 1995, the current Sheriff is Raymond M. Knight. The MCSO has authorized over 165 employees consiting of sworn law enforcement officers and civillian support staff.[3]
History
Created in 1777, the MCSO is the oldest law enforcment agency in Montgomery County.[4]
